More Than 400,000 Floridians Fail To Claim Economic Stimulus Checks

fanologoThe IRS has identified more than 5 million Americans who are eligible to receive the $300 economic stimulus check that was authorized earlier this year by Congress  but have failed to file a claim.  This group is mostly composed of senior citizens, disabled veterans and others with disabilities who would not usually be required to file taxes. The 405,968 eligible Floridians who have yet to claim their checks are missing out on a piece of the $121,790,400 payment.  Miami-Dade County has the highest number of unclaimed checks with 21,898, followed by Ft. Lauderdale and Jacksonville. Those who have not claimed their economic stimulus check have until October 15th to do so.  Find more information at www.IRS.gov or call the rebate hotline at 866.234.2942

Unemployment Deadline Nearing

The deadline is quickly approaching for enrollment in FANO’s alternative program that allows nonprofit organizations with more than ten employees to opt out of the State’s unemployment tax.  The program allows nonprofit organizations to put their own money into a fund to cover claims as opposed to paying a tax to the State up-front.  Last year we saved one organization $55,000.  Nonprofits interested in a quote to see if your organization can save should contact Marina at marina.fano@gmail.com or call 305.557.1764.  The State imposed deadline for enrollment is November 30th.
