1. Grants.gov Goes Mobile

Learn more about Grants.gov, the website that assists in finding government grants

2. Find Grants and Other Resources

The Members’ tab on the Florida Nonprofits’ website offers lots of great resources to our members including tips on social media, ethics, marketing, governance, and links to Community and private foundations, and other grant resources. There are grants listed for each month and categorized for easy access.

The Foundation Center Funding Information Network is also a great resource for finding grants, and Florida Nonprofits is a Funding Information Network Partner.

3. Hone Your Grantwriting Skills

Get great advice through the Sunshine Certificate in Nonprofit Management classes May 19 or July 12-15 on applying for (and winning) the grants you locate.

4. Farewell to Richard Edsall, CPA, CFE, MBA   "Richard Edsall"

The nonprofit community lost a friend last month with the death of Richard Edsall, CPA.

The Sunshine Certificate in Nonprofit Management provides motivating and stimulating classes to assist the professional development of anyone involved in the nonprofit sector.  An intensive four-day session will be offered July 12-15, 2018 at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort Fort Lauderdale. The monthly classes for May will cover Grantwriting and Evaluation and Accounting for Time and Money and will be May 19 from 9 am to 5 pm.

The Sunshine Certificate in Nonprofit Management provides motivating and stimulating classes to assist the professional development of anyone involved in the nonprofit sector. The 11-class series is offered in two formats:

  • an accelerated, intensive four-day session
  • ongoing, (rolling) monthly classes that can be completed in five months

We are pleased to announce that the next intensive four-day session will be July 12-15, 2018 at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa in conjunction with the FSAE (Florida Society of Association Executives) 2018 Annual Conference.

Dr. Charles Flowers – Lawton’s Heart Humanitarian Award

Dr. Charles Flowers was among the first Army Air Corps in Tuskegee cadet graduates. He became a flight instructor in 1942 and trained Tuskegee cadets to fly for five years. He majored in business administration at North Carolina Central University, then known as North Carolina College for Negroes, and became the first black manager of a North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Commission liquor store in Winston Salem, N.C., and co-owner of a drugstore. After retiring from NASA in 1990 as a manager of employee relations, Flowers began to mentor local students through his church, Lanham’s Ebenezer United Methodist Church. He did so until about 2009, when his health began to fail. This video celebrates his life.
