Certificate in Nonprofit Management and How to Start a Nonprofit

Sunshine-Certificate

Certificate in Nonprofit Management

The Sunshine Certificate in Nonprofit Management provides motivating and stimulating classes to assist the professional development of anyone involved in the nonprofit sector – from nonprofit executives and board members to staff and volunteers. It is offered in partnership with the Nova Southeastern University (NSU) Fischler School of Education and Human Services and Broward College (BC).

The 11-class series is offered as ongoing, (rolling) monthly (online) classes, one Saturday afternoon and one Monday evening each month. The course can be completed in ten months of Saturdays or Mondays, or five months of both.

Each class is taught by experts in a hands-on format. Certification provides you and the nonprofit with many useful skills including: fundraising, empowering vision from mission to action plan, nonprofit accounting, and creating a proposal. While each class offers valuable information and stands alone, a dynamic synergy is experienced by taking the entire series. For example: Exploring how to fundraise and generate more income goes hand in hand with having a specific plan for the use and accounting of those funds.

The curriculum includes grantwriting; indeed every class introduces concepts that are important to writing grants. To receive the certificate, each student must complete all 11 classes and the related assignments.  The assignments comprise all the collateral material needed for a grant proposal.

The Certificate in Nonprofit Management course is extremely flexible. If you sign up for the entire course, you can retake any class that you feel you would like further reinforcement or review.

Florida Nonprofits was the first organization in Florida to offer certification. Through the certification, Florida Nonprofits promotes its mission, capacity building through the development of nonprofit L.E.A.D.E.R.S.H.I.P.! The courses are geared to offer an inspirational and motivational process, and configured to facilitate a hands-on experience.
