The Fund provides grants for language documentation and revitalization and linguistic fieldwork. Priority is given to projects that serve both the native community and the field of linguistics. Work that has immediate applicability to one group and more distant application to the other also will be considered. Publishing subventions are a low priority, although they will be considered. ELF expects grants in this funding cycle to be less than $4,000 and to average about $2,000. Funds can be applied to consultant fees, tapes, films, travel, and so on, but not overhead. Researchers and language activists from any country are encouraged to apply.

Grants are awarded each year for the creation and development of innovative works of puppet theater. 1) Production grants of $7,000 are awarded for the production of new works ready to be presented in 2019. Workshop grants of $3,000 are for the development and workshopping of these pieces. Workshop and Production grants can be combined over a two-year period for the greatest benefit to the piece. 2) Family Grants of $4,000 are meant to fund the development of new and innovative work specifically for children, families, and teenagers. Grants are made only for the development of new works of live puppet theater. The foundation does not award funds for the presentation or remounting of existing work. Grants cannot be applied retroactively; substantial portions of a proposed project must take place after the funds are awarded. ACL will award approximately two State Pilot grants that will provide quality of life subawards to community based disability agencies that serve people living with paralysis, their families, and their support networks. These grants are designed to enhance the capacity of community disability programming by improving and/or increasing the services and supports provided by community-based disability organizations working to improve the quality of life for individuals with paralysis. The annual prize recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to understanding and quantifying perturbations of natural systems within the biosphere, atmosphere, or hydrosphere in the age of the Anthropocene. Nominations should recognize fundamental contributions that emphasize large-scale modeling or synthesis of observational data in order to provide insights into these systems within the recent past and into the near future. Such insights may come from investigating time scales of minutes to millennia and study across multiple disciplines. Nominees for the award must be living, and the winner must participate in the Franklin Institute Awards Week programs, to be held in the spring of 2020 in Philadelphia. While not required, Letters of Intent to nominate are appreciated and should be sent by April 30. Nominations must be received by May 31, 2019.

The purpose of the VOCA grant reimbursement program is to support the provision of services to victims of crime defined as efforts that respond to the emotional and physical needs of crime victims, assist victims of crime to stabilize their lives after victimization, assist victims to understand and participate in the criminal justice system, and provide victims of crime with a measure of safety and security. Eligibility to apply for VOCA funds is limited to victim assistance programs administered by state or local government agencies or not-for-profit corporations registered in Florida, or a combination thereof, that can demonstrate the following: 1) proof that the Internal Revenue Service recognizes the organization as being tax exempt under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; 2) a statement from a state taxing body or state secretary of state certifying that the organization is a nonprofit organization and that no part of the organization’s net earnings may benefit any private shareholder or individual; 3) a certified copy of a certificate of incorporation or similar document establishing nonprofit status; or 4) any of the above, if it applies to a state or national parent organization, with a statement by the state or national parent organization that the applicant is a local nonprofit affiliate. The Children’s Theatre Foundation of America’s grantmaking focus is on theatre for children and youth, the utilization of drama or theatre in education for children grades K-12, and development opportunities for theatre artists working in the area of children’s theatre in the United States.
Program supports scholarly projects designed to enhance the appreciation and understanding of European art and architecture, from antiquity to the dawn of the modern era. Grants are awarded to projects that create and disseminate specialized knowledge, including archival projects, as well as for the development and dissemination of scholarly databases, documentation projects, museum exhibitions and publications, photographic campaigns, scholarly catalogs and publications, and technical and scientific studies. The program also supports activities that permit art historians to share their expertise through international exchanges, professional meetings, conferences, symposia, consultations, the presentation of research, and other professional events. To be eligible, nonprofit organizations, including supporting foundations of European institutions, must be recognized as tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Children’s Theatre Foundation of America’s grantmaking focus is on theatre for children and youth, the utilization of drama or theatre in education for children grades K-12, and development opportunities for theatre artists working in the area of children’s theatre in the United States.
The purpose is to support states and tribes with implementing youth suicide prevention and early intervention strategies in schools, educational institutions, juvenile justice systems, substance use programs, mental health programs, foster care systems, and other child and youth-serving organizations. It is expected that this program will: (1) increase the number of youth-serving organizations who are able to identify and work with youth at risk of suicide; (2) increase the capacity of clinical service providers to assess, manage, and treat youth at risk of suicide; and (3) improve the continuity of care and follow-up of youth identified to be at risk for suicide, including those who have been discharged from emergency department and inpatient psychiatric units. SAMHSA expects states and tribes to make suicide prevention a core priority in statewide or tribal youth-serving systems.

Applications are sought from graduate students whose program of study shows the greatest potential to replace the use of animals in science. Grants of up $15,000 will be awarded to support the development of alternatives to the use of animals in research, testing, and education to students enrolled in master’s and doctoral programs in the sciences or human or veterinary medicine. The fellowships are renewable annually for up to three years. Continued funding is dependent on student progress and availability of funds. Fellowships will also be considered for graduate students in other fields such as education, psychology, humanities, journalism, and the law; and for projects that show promise to increase public awareness and/or promote changes in the legal system or public policy with respect to the use of animals in research, testing, and education.

Grants of up to $7,500 will be awarded to support and diversify the pipeline of family planning scholars and provide more opportunities for integrating emerging scholars into the family planning community. The grants also will support attendance at the 2019 North American Forum on Family Planning, the publication of one open-access publication, SFP membership dues for 2019, and efforts to match scholars lacking internal institutional or mentor support with an external mentor. To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled in a graduate-level program at the time of application and award. Medical students, nursing students, residents, and master’s or doctoral-level students are eligible. Ideal projects should integrate environmental education with opportunities for children to solve real-world problems by using science practices and technology. Projects may replicate a successful model or create a new and innovative approach. Preference will be given to applicants who have secured $2,500 in matching funds or in-kind contributions, with priority given to student-directed projects that develop materials that are easy to replicate, including lesson plans, protocols, videos, adaptations, and examples of student work. The Blooming Prairie Foundation is dedicated to promoting innovative ideas and practices in the area of organic and natural foods in order to further the health of the people, the health of the environment, and cooperative ideals.
The New Access Points program provides operational support for new service delivery sites to improve the health of the nation’s underserved communities and vulnerable populations by expanding access to affordable, accessible, quality, and cost effective primary healthcare services.
The goal is to increase the number of innovative treatments tested in humans for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. The program will fund: 1) clinical trials through Phase 2a of novel drug candidates, including small molecules and biologics (antibodies, oligonucleotides, peptides, gene therapies, cell therapies); 2) proof-of-concept biomarker-based trials in patients for repurposed/repositioned drugs; and 3) regulatory studies for investigational new drug (IND)/clinical trial application preclinical packages that are required before testing novel drugs in human subjects. Current target areas of interest include but are not limited to neuroprotection, inflammation, vascular function, mitochondria and metabolic function, proteostasis, ApoE, epigenetics, and synaptic activity and neurotransmitters. Funding is open to researchers, clinicians, and postdoctoral fellows in the U.S. and worldwide working in academic medical centers and universities or nonprofits or biotechnology companies that demonstrate a clear need for nonprofit funding. Up to $5 million will be awarded based on stage and scope of research. For studies requiring additional support, co-funding from other funding agencies or investors is encouraged.

This global program designed to provide outstanding scientists with support needed to conduct novel research into the fundamental causes of lupus. LRI welcomes novel, hypothesis- or discovery-driven proposals in human and/or animal model-based lupus research. The research must aim to uncover the fundamental causes of lupus and present a compelling vision of how the discovery would lay the groundwork for a potential cure, prevention, or highly effective therapy. Successful applicants will be outstanding investigators who have demonstrated creativity and productivity in their field of research. The Department is accepting proposals to increase chronic disease services for breast and cervical cancer prevention, colorectal cancer prevention, diabetes prevention and self-management, and cancer survivor support. Florida’s aging population is expected to increase the need for access to chronic disease services, including the screening for undiagnosed cancers and activities that improve progression and reduce cancer recurrence risk. Organizations throughout the state work within local health systems to address these growing needs, making coordination between these organizations paramount to reducing the burden of cancer. The purpose of the VOCA grant reimbursement program is to support the provision of services to victims of crime defined as efforts that respond to the emotional and physical needs of crime victims, assist victims of crime to stabilize their lives after victimization, assist victims to understand and participate in the criminal justice system, and provide victims of crime with a measure of safety and security. The annual prize recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to understanding and quantifying perturbations of natural systems within the biosphere, atmosphere, or hydrosphere in the age of the Anthropocene. The goal is to increase the number of innovative treatments tested in humans for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
