The Able Trust Strategic Employment Placement Initiatives Grants
Strategic Employment Placement Initiatives grants of up to $250,000 will be awarded to programs that support employment placement of Floridians with disabilities. The purpose of the program is to provide organizations the opportunity to create career-oriented employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities in Florida.  To be eligible, applicants must be a Florida-based organization considered tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code.

The Able Trust General Support for Employment Placement Programs
The purpose of this program is to provide general support of employment programs for a grant year.  Grants of up to $65,000 will be awarded to support programs that promote employment placement for participating individuals with disabilities, including programs that encompass equipment and/or staffing needs of an applicant organization to expand an existing program in a new way or create a new program.  To be eligible, applicants must be a Florida-based organization considered tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code.

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Grants to Support New Investigators in Addressing Cross-Cutting Violence Prevention and Opioid Overdose Prevention

Program provides support and 75% “protected time” for an intensive, supervised (mentored) career development experience to develop new researchers in the fields of opioid overdose prevention and cross-cutting violence prevention. The intent is to provide resources to young investigators so they can grow their skills by developing and conducting research efforts needed to address NCIPC Research Priorities, with the potential to investigate new and emerging public health issues. Investigators focused on opioid overdose prevention must propose a research project to investigate risk factors for and strategies to prevent opioid overdose. It is expected that the research could be directly translated to inform strategies being implemented by state and local health departments in addressing the opioid overdose epidemic. Investigators focused on cross-cutting violence prevention must assess multiple forms of violence impacting children or youth. Eligibility is unrestricted. Award Ceiling: $100,000.

National Endowment for Democracy Grants

The endowment makes more than twelve hundred grants to support the projects of nongovernmental groups abroad who are working for democratic goals in more than ninety countries. NED seeks proposals for projects that advance democratic goals and strengthen democratic institutions. To be eligible, applicants must be a nongovernmental organizations (i.e., civic organizations, associations, independent media, and other similar groups). Applications are encouraged from organizations working in diverse environments, including newly established democracies, semi-authoritarian countries, highly repressive societies, and countries undergoing democratic transition. Grants of up to $50,000 over twelve months will be awarded to nonpartisan programs that seek to promote and defend human rights and the rule of law, support freedom of information and independent media, and promote accountability and transparency.

American Dental Association Relief Grant Program

To provide financial assistance to dentists and their dependents who, because of accidental injury, a medical condition, disability, or advanced age, are unable to meet basic living expenses.  Eligibility Requirements: Dentists, their dependents, and former dependents of deceased dentists are eligible to apply for financial aid from the ADA Foundation if an accidental injury, advanced age, physically debilitating illness, or medically-related condition prevents them from gainful employment and results in an inability to be wholly self-sustaining.

The Charles Bronfman Prize Call for Nominations

The prize celebrates the vision and endeavor of an individual (or group of individuals) under the age of 50 whose humanitarian work has contributed significantly to the betterment of the world. The prize is designed to bring public recognition to young, dynamic individuals whose Jewish values infuse their humanitarian accomplishments and provide inspiration to future generations. The prize accepts nominations from around the world in all areas of humanitarian endeavor across a broad spectrum of disciplines, including but not limited to medicine and science, education, human rights, conflict resolution, community development, and compassionate care. Nominees should be individuals or teams (not organizations) that self-identify as Jewish. Nominators are encouraged to collaborate with their nominee to present a strong, well-informed nomination. Libraries and Autism: We’re Connected 2019-2020 Grants
Grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded in support of projects and services for any age group. Applicants may propose to initiate a new, creative program or service, bring an already-existing, successful program or service to their library for the first time, or enhance a program or service they already offer. All programs or services must benefit people with autism and/or their families, directly or indirectly. Funds may be used to hire a trainer to present a workshop, to buy program materials, to pay for staff, etc. Any library in the United States or Canada is eligible to apply.

American Dental Association Access to Oral Health Care for People with Special Needs Grant

The goal of the grant initiative is to provide funding to nonprofit organizations that provide oral health services to people with physical and/or mental conditions that prohibit / complicate the provision of dental care in the routine setting. Funding will support U.S.-based nonprofit organizations that utilize innovative methods to provide oral health care services to people with special needs. Letters of Intent are required.  Any U.S.-based nonprofit organization that currently provides oral health care to people with special needs is eligible to apply. A U.S. licensed dentist must oversee the program. Award Ceiling: $80,000

The SBA provides low-interest disaster loans to help businesses and homeowners recover from declared disasters. Loans from the Small Business Administration (SBA) may be available to help repair flood-related damage to your home or business and replace personal property. The SBA provides low-interest disaster loans of up to $200,000 to repair a primary residence, up to $40,000 for homeowners and renters to replace personal property, and up to $2 million to businesses and most private non-profits for physical damage and economic injury needs as a result of the disaster. U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Part D — Women, Infants, Children, and Youth (WICY) Grants Supplemental Funding

The purpose is to strengthen organizational capacity to respond to the changing health care landscape and increase access to high quality family-centered HIV primary health care services for low income, uninsured, and underserved WICY living with HIV.  Funding under this program is intended to support one, short-term activity that can be completed by the end of the one-year funding opportunity period of performance.  Applicants who were awarded supplemental funding for an HIV Care Innovation activity in FY 2018 through either the RWHAP Part D Supplemental (HRSA-18-044) or Part C Capacity Development (HRSA-18-051) may propose an expansion of these activities; however, HRSA will not fund the same activity in FY 2019 as HRSA funded in FY 2018 through HRSA-18-044 or HRSA-18-051.  If the proposed project is an expansion of a previously funded activity, you will be required to provide a clear rationale for how the proposed activity builds upon and furthers the objectives of the previously funded HIV Care Innovation activity. Eligibility is limited to current RWHAP Part D WICY funded recipients.

National Institute of Health (NIH) Human Pancreas Analysis Program (HPAP) (U01 Cilinal Trial Not Allowed)

This FOA will support one team of investigators with combined expertise in human pancreas physiology and pathophysiology; collection, processing and multimodal analysis of human pancreatic tissues; and biological database building, curation and management, that will be tasked to: 1) identify, collect and intensively characterize primary pancreatic tissues from patients with type 1 diabetes (T1D), beta cell specific autoimmunity, or rare forms of islet dysfunction that may inform understanding of the pathogenesis of T1D , as well as age-matched controls; and 2) analyze, organize and share the data resulting from the study of these tissues and expand the existing PANC DB open-access resource database. HPAP is a component of HIRN, created in 2014 to support innovative and collaborative translational research to understand how human beta cells are lost in T1D, and to find innovative strategies to protect and replace functional human beta cell mass. Eligible applicants are: private, public and state controlled institutions of higher education; nonprofits with and without 501(c)(3) status with the IRS; For profit organizations and small businesses; state, county, city or township governments; Native American tribal organizations and governments; special district governments; Independent school districts; and public housing authorities.

Lions Clubs International Foundation Disaster Grants

Lions and LCIF help communities after hurricanes, floods, fires, and other devastating natural disasters. LCIF offers a variety of grant options to support various stages of disaster relief operations.  Disaster Preparedness Grants support districts interested in partnering with local authorities and other community organizations to plan and prepare for future relief efforts. Lions’ district governors may submit proposals for disaster preparedness grants. Grants are awarded for up to US $10,000.  Emergency Grants provide up to US $10,000 for districts impacted by a natural disaster. Lions’ district governors may apply for Emergency Grants to help meet immediate needs such as food, water, clothing, and medical supplies. Community Recovery Grants aid districts interested in supporting short-term cleanup and repair efforts in situations where other organizations have already addressed immediate needs. Lions’ district governors may submit proposals for community recovery grants up to $20,000.  Major Catastrophe Grants are awarded for long-term reconstruction projects due to disasters that occur on a much larger scale. Major catastrophe grants are awarded at the discretion of the international president and the LCIF chairperson and cannot be applied for by a district. Grants provide significant funds for catastrophes with major international impact.

Volunteer Florida Foundation Florida Disaster Fund Request for Proposal (RFP)

This RFP seeks to meet unmet disaster recovery related needs resulting from Hurricane Irma in 2017. The purpose is to make financial resources available to long-term recovery committees (LTRC) to support survivor recovery in communities that were impacted by Hurricane Irma and that received a federal declaration for Individual Assistance. The funds are designed to assist long-term recovery committees by supporting a staff position and related expenses (Salary, Fringe Benefits, Travel, Equipment, Supplies, and Other Operating Costs) for up to 18 months. The position should strengthen the community long-term recovery operation.   The total funding available for this RFP is $950,000. Grants will range up to $50,000 with 100% match in cash, in-kind donations, and/or volunteer hours. Eligible applicants are organizations with 501(c)(3) nonprofit status (or operates under a fiscal agent with 501(c)(3) nonprofit status) that provide disaster recovery assistance and services in counties identified in the LTRC by-laws in response to Hurricane Irma.

National Collegiate Athletic Association
Program supports research and data-driven pilot programs designed to enhance student-athlete psychosocial well-being and mental health. In 2018, the program will award grants of up to $25,000 in grants to member institutions that are piloting on-campus programs designed to enhance the well-being of NCAA student-athletes. Potential topics include but are not limited to managing transitions (e.g., from recruit to first-year student; transferring between universities; adapting from youth sports to college sports environment; developing independence from parents), identity development, stress management, substance use, bystander intervention, cultivating healthy relationships, career exploration, and sport exit strategies.  Grant recipients will be invited to present their pilot programs to hundreds of key stakeholders in intercollegiate athletics in January 2020 at the NCAA Convention in Orlando, Florida. To be eligible, project directors must be affiliated with an NCAA institution. Interdisciplinary proposals bringing together athletics department administrators, coaches, student affairs practitioners, and faculty are strongly encouraged.

Doris Duke Charitable Foundation Clinical Scientist Development Award
Program provides grants to junior physician scientists in any disease area to help facilitate their transition to an independent clinical research career. Competitive applicants are expected to have research experience and a publication record consistent with the rank of assistant professor.  To be eligible, applicants must have received an MD, DO, or foreign equivalent degree from an accredited institution; have a valid U.S. medical license at the time of application; work at a U.S. academic institution that grants doctoral degrees and is able to receive an award as a 501(c)(3) Internal Revenue Service status; have a full-time faculty appointment as assistant professor at a U.S. academic institution that grants doctoral degrees; and have been appointed to their first full-time assistant professor faculty position between December 1, 2014, and December 1, 2017.  Pre-proposals are required.

Rotary International CART Fund

The fund awards grants of up to $250,000 to support early and conceptual plans of projects that may not yet be supported by extensive preliminary data but have the potential to substantially advance biomedical research. Unless they intend to extend previous discoveries into new directions or applications, projects should be new and distinct from those designed to increase knowledge in a well-established area. McKnight Endowment Fund for Neuroscience 2018 Technology Awards

The program encourages and supports scientists working on the development of novel and creative approaches to understanding brain function. The foundation is interested in how a new technology may be used to monitor, manipulate, analyze, or model brain function at any level, from the molecular to the entire organism. Technology may take any form, from biochemical tools to instruments to software and mathematical approaches. A goal of the program is to foster collaboration between the neurosciences and other disciplines; therefore, proposals for collaborative and cross-disciplinary applications are explicitly invited. Paralyzed Veterans of America Education Foundation

The foundation considers funding in six categories: consumer, caregiver, and community education; professional development and education; research utilization and dissemination; assistive technology; conferences and symposia; and consumer guides. Projects should be designed to improve the quality of life for individuals with SCI/D, educate consumers about the consequences of and complications associated with SCI/D, improve the knowledge and skills of SCI/D healthcare professionals, and prevent the occurrence and complications of new SCI/D. The foundation supports one-year projects with grants of up to $50,000; conferences and symposia are supported at a $15,000 maximum. Eligible applicants should be affiliated with an academic institution, healthcare provider or organization, or a consumer advocate or organization. Grantee institutions must be located in the United States or Canada. Project directors and fellows are not required to be a U.S. or Canadian citizen.

Dining for Women Grants

Dining for Women is an educational giving circle whose members collectively support international grassroots programs that empower women and girls living in extreme poverty.  The circle is inviting letters of intent for projects that will contribute to its goal of helping women and girls in the developing world achieve their potential, gain equality, and overcome economic limitations, and social bias. Projects funded must address one or more of the UN Sustainable Development Goals; create lasting change in the lives of the women and/or girls who are affected; and provide solutions that have been identified by the women and/or girls. Grants will range between $35,000 and $50,000 and be distributed over a maximum duration of two years. To be eligible, applicants must be considered tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and have a minimum annual operating budget of $100,000. Letters of Intent must be received no later than October 24. Upon review, selected applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal before the end of the year.
