Horowitz Foundation for Social Policy Grants
The foundation awards grants of $7,500 to individuals to encourage projects that address contemporary issues in the social sciences. Grants: support emerging scholars through small grants; promote scholarship with a social policy application; and encourage projects that address contemporary issues in the social sciences. Recipients will receive $5,000 at the start of the project and $2,500 upon its completion. Applicants are not required to be a citizen or resident of the United States; grants are limited, however, to aspiring PhD students at the dissertation level whose project has received approval from the appropriate department head/university.

Challenged Athletes Foundation Access for Athletes Program
The program is designed to reduce the financial impediments to participation in sports, ensuring that challenged athletes are not left on the sidelines because they can’t afford expensive equipment or training costs. Through the program, grants will be awarded to physically challenged athletes for the purchase of equipment such as sports wheelchairs, handcycles, mono skis, and sports prosthetics and/or to help cover the costs of training and competition expenses. Grant amounts will average about $1,000. To be eligible, an athlete’s physical disability must be recognized within the International Paralympic Committee classifications.

American Association of University Women AAUW’s International Fellowship Program
Fellowships of up to $30,000 are awarded to women from other countries who are pursuing full-time graduate or postdoctoral study in the United States. (A limited number of awards are available for study outside the United States, excluding the applicant’s home country, to women who are members of Graduate Women International.) Preference is given to women who show prior commitment to the advancement of women and girls through civic, community, or professional work. Applicants must have earned the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree by September 30, 2017, and must have applied to their proposed institutions of study by the time of the application. Up to five International Master’s/First Professional Degree Fellowships are renewable for a second year.

Florida Division of Library and Information Services LSTA Innovation Grants
Public Library Innovation funding is available to expand services for learning and access to information and educational resources in a variety of formats for individuals of all ages. One-time funding helps public libraries to purchase tangible items that will support innovation. Library systems may serve one county, multiple counties or a municipality. CEC ArtsLink Fellowships
Applications are sought from contemporary artists and arts managers working in the performing arts and literature in other countries to live and work in the U.S. Preference will be given to those applicants for whom this will be a first-time opportunity for in-depth creative work in the U.S., and to applicants whose artistic practice integrates innovative approaches to interaction with the community. Applicants must have sufficient knowledge of English to function independently while in the U.S. Undergraduate students, amateurs, and research scholars are not eligible. Arts managers must be affiliated with an arts organization in the non-commercial sector. Artists seeking placement in commercial firms are also ineligible. Vermont Studio Center Call for Applications
The center operates one of the largest international artists’ and writers’ residency program in the U.S. Its mission is to provide studio residencies in an inclusive, international community that honors creative work as the communication of spirit through form. VSC has issued a Call for Applications from visual artists and writers for its fellowship program, which provides up to twenty-five residencies at any given time from December 2018 to May 2019. National Park Service Save America’s Treasures – Preservation
Grants provide preservation and/or conservation assistance to nationally significant historic properties and collections. Grants are awarded through a competitive process and require a dollar-for-dollar, non-Federal match, which can be cash or documented in-kind. These grants are administered by the National Park Service in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Course Hero, Woodrow Wilson Foundation
The program will provide eight fellowships in the humanities/social sciences, life sciences, math/physical sciences, and business. Four fellowships will again be awarded to scholars working toward tenure, with each of these tenure-track fellows receiving $30,000, including $20,000 to engage a research or teaching assistant and $10,000 toward their own research and travel. In addition, four fellowships offering $20,000 each will be awarded to instructors who are not in a tenure-track position. The Course Hero–WW program expansion is intended to acknowledge such instructors’ contributions to teaching excellence. Exceptional candidates for the Course Hero-WW Fellowships should teach in ways that build student confidence and mastery of a subject; encourage critical thinking; explore foundational concepts through the lens of broader themes and global events; promote the power of learning communities beyond the classroom; leverage technology to complement the classroom experience; consider and serve different ways of learning; prepare students for lifelong learning; and can serve as replicable teaching models for other educators. For the tenure-track award, eligible candidates must be a junior faculty member in one of the program’s fields of focus who has successfully completed his/her institutional review at the midpoint of his/her progress toward tenure. Non–tenure-track candidates, working in the same fields, must be teaching at least two courses per term/semester and have three to seven years’ experience in their positions.

Florida Humanities Council Community Project Grants
Grants of up to $5,000 are awarded in support of community projects such as single events, lectures or panel discussions, reading and discussion groups, film series, and/or online resources such as interpretive brochures, reading lists, audio/video recordings of scholarly presentations, and classroom resources. Eligible projects must be rooted in one or more of the disciplines of the humanities, enlist the participation of humanities scholars and/or experts in the project’s planning and execution, and engage the public in thoughtful and informed activities that explore humanities topics, especially those related to Florida or of interest to Floridians. Priority will be given to proposals from organizations with annual budgets of less than $1 million, projects that reach new and/or underserved audiences, and projects that build on partnerships between two or more organizations or institutions. To be eligible, organizations must be recognized as tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and be based in Florida and serve Floridians.

Princeton University Program in Law and Public Affairs
Program invites outstanding faculty members of any discipline, independent scholars, lawyers, and judges to apply for visiting residential appointments for the 2019-20 academic year. LAPA Fellows devote the major portion of their time to their own research and writing on law-related subjects of empirical, interpretive, doctrinal, and/or normative significance. Fellows are expected to be in residence for ten months and participate in LAPA programs, including a biweekly seminar, a weekly luncheon discussion group, as well as occasional public events and conferences. Fellows may apply to teach one course in Princeton’s graduate or undergraduate programs, subject to the needs of the university, sufficient enrollment, approval of the dean of the faculty, and the cooperation of the sponsoring academic department. All applicants must have received a doctorate, juris doctor, or an equivalent professional degree at the time of submission of their fellowship application.

National Endowment for the Humanities Scholarly Editions and Translations Grants
Grants of up to $300,000 will be awarded to support the preparation of editions and translations of pre-existing texts and documents that are currently inaccessible or available only in inadequate editions. Grants are intended to support full- or part-time activities for a period of at least a year up to a maximum of three years. Projects must be undertaken by a team of at least one editor or translator and one other staff member. Grants typically support editions and translations of significant literary, philosophical, and historical materials, but other types of work, such as musical notation, are also eligible. Applicants should demonstrate familiarity with the best practices recommended by the Association for Documentary Editing or the Modern Language Association Committee on Scholarly Editions. Translation projects should also explain the approach adopted for the particular work to be translated.

Graham Foundation Carter Manny Awards
The program supports dissertation research and writing by promising scholars whose projects have architecture as their primary concern and who have the potential to shape contemporary discourse about architecture and impact the field. Projects may be drawn from the various fields of inquiry supported by the foundation, including architectural history, theory, and criticism; design; engineering; landscape architecture; urban planning; urban studies; the visual arts; and other related fields. Awards are offered in two categories, including a research award for a student at the research stage of the doctoral dissertation and a writing award for a student at the writing stage of the doctoral dissertation. The research award is acknowledged with up to $15,000, while the writing award is acknowledged with up to $20,000. PhD students who are presently candidates for a doctoral degree are eligible to apply. Students must be nominated by their department to apply for the award. The award is open to students officially enrolled in schools in the U.S. and Canada, regardless of citizenship.

United States-Japan Foundation Pre-College Education Program
USJF supports programs that take advantage of new technology to bring Japanese and American teachers and students together; build human networks among teachers on both sides of the Pacific with a mutual interest in teaching and learning about Japan, the U.S., and U.S.-Japan relations, particularly in the fields of social studies and Japanese language instruction; and invest in programs in regions in both countries that have been underserved in terms of exposure to and resources for learning about the other country. The foundation also supports programs that enlist the expertise residing at institutions of higher learning and other NGOs in support of U.S.-Japan studies programs at the elementary, middle, and high school levels in both countries; present the products of research and policy studies and media programs on U.S.-Japan issues to an audience of pre-college students and their teachers; and enhance, expand, and preserve the study of the Japanese language at the pre-college level in the U.S. through teacher professional development opportunities, national standards, and performance assessments. Letters of Intent are required.

U.S. Department of Defense ARL Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU)/Minority-Serving Institutions (MI) Undergraduate Student Design Competition
The grants awarded to the HBCU/MI institutions of higher education will provide travel support and other material costs required for the design competition. The goals of the ARL HBCU/MI Undergraduate Student Design Competition are to: Introduce HBCU/MI students to Army research and technical challenges and increase student interest in Army science and engineering; Engage HBCU/MI students with the Army’s technical and operational communities; Implement ARL’s HBCU/MI engagement strategy; and, Stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship. National League of Nursing Nursing Education Research Grants
The annual program is designed to support high-quality studies that contribute to the development of the science of nursing education, promote diversity of research topics, and investigators who demonstrate rigor and innovative approaches to advance the field of nursing education research. Grants of up to $25,000 will be awarded to support projects focused on building links between practice and education, developing more rigorous and robust research designs and evaluation protocols, and creating leadership opportunities for faculty and nursing education research scholars. To be eligible, principal investigators must be current NLN members, either through their school or through individual dues payment.

Grants of up to $25,000 will be awarded in support of clinical or basic science research projects in the field of arthroscopic surgery or disorders amenable to arthroscopic treatment. Fellows spend one year working on the staff of a member of Congress or congressional committee. Activities may involve drafting legislation, conducting oversight work, assisting with congressional hearings and events, and preparing briefs and speeches. Fellows also attend a two-week orientation program on congressional and executive branch operations, which provides guidance for the congressional placement process, and participate in a yearlong seminar series on science and public policy issues. APA and the American Psychological Foundation will each sponsor up to two congressional fellows for a one-year appointment. The APA fellowship is open to all full APA members, but the APF fellowship was created to support psychologists with a background in developmental or clinical psychology and experience working directly with children. Stipends for these fellowships range from $75,000 to $90,000, depending upon years of postdoctoral experience. The fellowship also provides reimbursement for health insurance coverage and a $3,750 stipend for professional development and relocation expenses during the fellowship year. To be eligible, applicants demonstrate competence in scientific and/or professional psychology; demonstrate sensitivity toward policy issues; have a strong interest in applying psychological knowledge to the solution of societal challenges; and be able to work quickly and communicate effectively on a wide variety of topics and be able to work cooperatively with individuals with diverse viewpoints. In addition, applicants must be psychologists, members of APA, a member of APA (or applicant for membership), a U.S. citizen, and have a doctorate in psychology (from an APA accredited doctoral program and internship, if in the area of professional psychology) or related field by the application deadline.

American Roentgen Ray Society Research Scholarships
The annual $140,000 scholarship supports study in a field selected by the scholar that will enable the scholar to attain his/her professional career goal with the possibility of changing the way radiology is practiced. By giving both recognition and financial support to the activities and studies of young radiologists, ARRS helps prepare them for positions of leadership in academic radiology. The ARRS Scholarship is funded through the Roentgen Fund of the ARRS. Medical schools, affiliated hospitals, and clinical research institutions with interests in training and research in diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine, the basic sciences, or professions fundamental to imaging techniques are invited to submit one nomination annually. All nominees must have earned an MD or DO (or equivalent) from an accredited institution and be an ARRS member at the time the application and for the duration of the award.

International Reading Association 2019 ILA Nila Banton Smith Teacher as Researcher Grant
Grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded to teachers who conduct research inquiries in their classrooms and demonstrate outstanding leadership in translating theory and current research into practice in developing content area literacy. The Foundation for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Mid-Career Research Grants
Through the program, a single grant of $20,000 will be awarded to a research project in the area of physical medicine and rehabilitation by an established investigator with a track record of success. The annual award aims to allow the researcher to extend his/her work in a new direction. Eligible applicants include any physiatrist or faculty member in a division or department of physical medicine and rehabilitation who is at least five and not more than twenty years post-completion of a terminal degree and subsequent training program. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a history of successful research experience. Special consideration will be given to proposals that meet the foundation’s goal of driving the evidence base for cost-effective, results-oriented rehabilitative care.

Hearing Health Foundation Emerging Research Grants (ERG) Program
HHF awards emerging researchers grants to stimulate research that leads to a continuing, independently fundable line of research. The foundation seeks applications for new avenues in a number of areas of hearing and balance science, including central auditory processing disorders, hearing loss in children, hyperacusis, Meniere’s disease, stria, tinnitus, and Usher syndrome. HHF also encourages applications in the areas of general hearing health, including the physiology of hearing and balance; the epidemiology of auditory and vestibular disorders; human otopathology; the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of hearing loss and balance disturbance; human genetics and mouse models of peripheral and central auditory/balance dysfunction; innovation in cellular and molecular therapies; and auditory and vestibular implants and hearing aids. One-year grants of up to $30,000 will be awarded. Early-career scientists working in the field of hearing and balance are encouraged to apply.

Rivkin Center Pilot Study Awards
The center provides funding for innovative research pilot studies, scholar grants to up-and-coming investigators in ovarian cancer research, early detection screening for ovarian cancer, and nationally and internationally attended research symposia on ovarian cancer. The center currently is accepting applications for pilot study projects. Through the center’s Pilot Study Program, up to ten grants of $75,000 each will be awarded to investigator-initiated projects in all areas of ovarian cancer research, as well as projects designed to analyze data from already funded clinical trials. Priority will be given to proposals that are innovative, multidisciplinary, likely to lead to the submission of grant applications for independently funded investigations, and have translational research potential. Investigators at all levels are encouraged to apply.

American Association of Birth Centers Foundation Request for Proposals – Research Grants
The foundation raises funds to support advancement of the AABC birth center model as the standard to improve maternity and women’s health care. Based on a wellness model of pregnancy and birth, the birth center is a homelike facility operating within a healthcare system. Birth centers are guided by the principles of prevention of complication, sensitivity to the needs of the individual family, safety for both mother and baby, appropriate use of medical intervention, and cost-effective care. Birth centers provide family-centered care for healthy women before, during, and after normal pregnancy, labor, and birth. To help advance this mission, the foundation will award grants of up to $5,000 in support of research on issues related to the birth center model of care. The program is open to individuals or organizations, and nonprofit status or fiscal sponsorship is not required. However, applicants must be able to demonstrate capacity and a plan to complete the research in accordance with the project’s timeline.

American College Health Foundation FirstRisk Advisors Initiatives in College Mental/Behavioral Health Award
The annual award is designed to fund the development of creative initiatives that address the prevention of and early intervention and treatment for mental and behavioral health disorders among college students. The goal of these initiatives should be to reduce the risk of mental and behavioral illness and injury among college students and to enhance both individual and community health as a strategy to support student learning. To that end, a single grant of $3,500 will be awarded at the 2019 ACHA annual meeting in Denver in late May. Only campus health professionals who are an American College Health Association Individual Member or employed at an ACHA Member Institution are eligible to apply.

AHNS awards grants of up to $10,000 in support of basic, translational, or clinical research projects in head and neck oncology. The annual program recognizes exceptional, innovative science educators. The awards program is sponsored in part by Bio-Rad, DuPont/Pioneer, Northrop Grumman Foundation, PASCO, SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment, TruGreen, Shell, and Vernier Software & Technology. Milstein Medical Asian American Partnership Fellowships in Translational Medicine
The award provides support for a one-year fellowship for a scholar or investigator to conduct a research project in translational medicine. The program will provide support in the amount of $60,000 for the project to be conducted at the awardee’s home institution in China as well as support in the amount of $25,000 for the U.S. partner institution. To be eligible, applicants must be situated in a major medical center and aspire to be a distinguished researcher who focuses on the challenges of translational medicine. In addition, applicants must possess an MD or PhD in any specialty or medical subspecialty; significant research experience with a distinguished publication record; a strong commitment to research and academics; demonstrated leadership skills; and excellent proficiency in English.

American Sleep Medicine Foundation Bridge to Success for Mid-Career/Senior Investigators Award
Grants of up to $100,000 will be awarded to established sleep investigators who have been independently supported by the NIH or other government research grants for at least five years but whose recent grant proposals are unlikely to be funded. A Bridge to Success Mid-Career/Senior Investigator Award will provide support for a year to help an independent investigator stay in the field of sleep research while reapplying for external funding. To be eligible, applicants must be a sleep scientist (MD, DO, or PhD) who has been independently funded for at least five of the last seven years.

Enterprise Florida Florida Defense Support Task Force Advocacy RFQ
Enterprise Florida, Inc. (EFI) is requesting responses for the services of a qualified contractor to assist in aggressively advocating with federal entities to protect, promote, preserve and expand Florida military installations and missions. The contractor must demonstrate the experience, capability and approach required to effectively assist Florida in being fully prepared for proposed military and defense reductions and future realignments and consolidations. This RFQ is being used to determine what vendors may be qualified and whether to competitively procure contractual services, determining what solicitation process to use for a particular need, or researching general, special, and/or technical specifications for a solicitation. Individuals, not-for-profit, and for-profit agencies may submit responses to this RFQ. U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Self-Help Homeownership Opportunity Program (SHOP)
Funds will be awarded to national and regional non-profit organizations and consortia to facilitate and encourage innovative homeownership opportunities on a national, geographically diverse basis through the provision of self-help homeownership housing programs. Applicants must propose to use a significant amount of SHOP Grant funds in at least two states. SHOP Grant funds must be used for land acquisition, infrastructure improvements, and for reasonable and necessary planning, administration and management costs (not to exceed 20 percent). The average SHOP Grant expenditure for the combined costs of land acquisition and infrastructure improvements must not exceed $15,000 per SHOP unit. Eligible applicants include public or private non-profit organizations, or a consortium of public or private non-profit organizations, that have the capacity and experience to provide or facilitate self-help homeownership opportunities on a national or regional basis.

National Endowment for the Humanities Scholarly Editions and Translations Grants
Grants of up to $300,000 will be awarded to support the preparation of editions and translations of pre-existing texts and documents that are currently inaccessible or available only in inadequate editions. Grants are intended to support full- or part-time activities for a period of at least a year up to a maximum of three years. Projects must be undertaken by a team of at least one editor or translator and one other staff member. Grants typically support editions and translations of significant literary, philosophical, and historical materials, but other types of work, such as musical notation, are also eligible. Applicants should demonstrate familiarity with the best practices recommended by the Association for Documentary Editing or the Modern Language Association Committee on Scholarly Editions. Translation projects should also explain the approach adopted for the particular work to be translated.

FDEP Florida Coastal Management Program 2019-2020 Coastal Partnership Initiative (CPI)
The purpose of the CPI is to promote the protection and effective management of Florida’s coastal resources in four priority areas: Resilient Communities, Coastal Resource Stewardship, Access to Coastal Resources, and Working Waterfronts. Eligible entities may apply for grants for community projects such as habitat restoration, park planning and improvements, waterfront revitalization, and improving communities’ resiliency to coastal hazards. Eligible applicants include Florida’s 35 coastal counties and the local governments within their boundaries that are required to include a coastal element in their comprehensive plan. Florida public colleges and universities, regional planning councils, national estuary programs and nonprofit groups may also apply for CPI funds as long as an eligible local government is a partner in the project.

Captain Planet Foundation Grants
Grants are intended to serve as a means of bringing environment-based education to schools and inspire youth and communities to participate in community service through environmental stewardship activities. On occasion, the foundation will fund unique and innovative projects that do not precisely match the grant guidelines but otherwise promote its mission to support hands-on environmental activities. The foundation makes grants to U.S.-based schools and nonprofit environmental and educational organizations with an annual operating budget of less than $3 million. Preference is given to requests seeking funding of $500 or less and to applicants who have secured at least 50 percent matching or in-kind funding for their projects. The foundation will on occasion consider grants of up to $2,500.

HSA promotes the knowledge and use of herbs through educational programs, research, and sharing of experiences of its members with the larger community. KaBOOM! Community Playground Grants
The program provides eligible communities with most of the funds, tools, and resources they need to build a custom-made playground in a single day. Through the program, selected community groups work closely with a KaBOOM! project manager who will lead activities as well as coordinate the equipment and material purchases for the project. Community members will take the lead in recruiting volunteers, securing food and tool donations, and completing any necessary site preparation. Municipalities and nonprofits serving children of playground age are eligible to apply. Applicants must contribute $8,500 toward the cost of playground equipment; recruit seventy-five to a hundred community volunteers to participate in playground build day; and own the land on which they wish to build, or possess a long-term lease and obtain permission from the landowner to construct a playground.

Rivkin Center Pilot Study Awards
The center provides funding for innovative research pilot studies, scholar grants to up-and-coming investigators in ovarian cancer research, early detection screening for ovarian cancer, and nationally and internationally attended research symposia on ovarian cancer. The center currently is accepting applications for pilot study projects. Through the center’s Pilot Study Program, up to ten grants of $75,000 each will be awarded to investigator-initiated projects in all areas of ovarian cancer research, as well as projects designed to analyze data from already funded clinical trials. Priority will be given to proposals that are innovative, multidisciplinary, likely to lead to the submission of grant applications for independently funded investigations, and have translational research potential. Investigators at all levels are encouraged to apply.

American Association of Birth Centers Foundation Request for Proposals – Research Grants
The foundation raises funds to support advancement of the AABC birth center model as the standard to improve maternity and women’s health care. Based on a wellness model of pregnancy and birth, the birth center is a homelike facility operating within a healthcare system. Birth centers are guided by the principles of prevention of complication, sensitivity to the needs of the individual family, safety for both mother and baby, appropriate use of medical intervention, and cost-effective care. Birth centers provide family-centered care for healthy women before, during, and after normal pregnancy, labor, and birth. To help advance this mission, the foundation will award grants of up to $5,000 in support of research on issues related to the birth center model of care. The program is open to individuals or organizations, and nonprofit status or fiscal sponsorship is not required. However, applicants must be able to demonstrate capacity and a plan to complete the research in accordance with the project’s timeline.

American Association of University Women AAUW’s International Fellowship Program
Fellowships of up to $30,000 are awarded to women from other countries who are pursuing full-time graduate or postdoctoral study in the United States. (A limited number of awards are available for study outside the United States, excluding the applicant’s home country, to women who are members of Graduate Women International.) Preference is given to women who show prior commitment to the advancement of women and girls through civic, community, or professional work. Applicants must have earned the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree by September 30, 2017, and must have applied to their proposed institutions of study by the time of the application. Up to five International Master’s/First Professional Degree Fellowships are renewable for a second year.
