Reemployment Assistance
If your employment has been negatively impacted as a result of the mitigation efforts in Florida to stop the spread of COVID-19, you may be eligible to receive Reemployment Assistance. Reemployment Assistance provides temporary wage replacement (unemployment insurance) benefits to eligible individuals who are out of work through no fault of their own. Individuals who may be eligible for Reemployment Assistance may include Those who are quarantined by a medical professional or a government agency; Those who are laid off or sent home without pay for an extended period by their employer due to COVID-19 concerns; or Those who are caring for an immediate family member who is diagnosed with COVID-19. Reemployment Assistance claims are handled by the CONNECT system. You can file your claim by accessing CONNECT through www.floridajobs.org in the Reemployment Assistance Service Center in the right hand corner of the page. People who need assistance filing a claim online because of legal reasons, computer illiteracy, language barriers, or disabilities may call 1-800-681-8102.

This program is being provided at no charge to any organization with events scheduled from April 15th to December 31st of 2020.

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Strengthening Public Health Systems and Services through National Partnerships to Improve and Protect the Nations Health

The purpose is to announce the availability of supplemental funding for the organizations that were previously awarded funding under Funding Strategy 1 of CDC-RFA-OT18-1802: “Strengthening Public Health Systems and Services through National Partnerships to Improve and Protect the Nation’s Health” in FY18. Organizations meeting this criteria are eligible to apply for new CIO Project Plans specifically intended to address the current outbreak of COVID-19.  The programmatic intent of this emergency supplemental is to fund eligible organizations to use CDC-RFA-OT18-1802’s existing 7 program strategies (public health systems infrastructure; leadership and workforce; data and information systems; communication and information technology; partnerships; laws and policies; and programs and services) to perform activities building capacity in the following emergency/crisis response areas: Strengthen Incident Management for Early Crisis Response Strengthen Jurisdictional Recovery Strengthen Biosurveillance Strengthen Information Management Strengthen Countermeasures and Mitigation Strengthen Surge Management Strengthen Communications Achieve Incident Management System Response Objectives.

Miami Foundation Community Recovery Fund – Nonprofit Interest Forms

Local nonprofit organizations have had to cancel revenue-generating events, absorb unexpected costs and shut their doors to clients, eliminating much-needed fees for their services as a result of COVID-19. The Community Recovery Fund seeks to provide critical help to Miami-Dade nonprofits whose operations are severely impacted and supports their long-term recovery, resilience and financial stability.  Nonprofit staff members are encouraged to express interest for support by completing the Nonprofit Interest Form.

Census Bureau Statement on Coronavirus Pandemic

The census is important to your nonprofit and to those you serve.  Every person counted in your community impacts ten years of funding, representation, and allocation of public services and infrastructure. The Census Bureau made a statement regarding the coronavirus pandemic stating: “It has never been easier to respond on your own (questionnaire), whether online, over the phone or by mail – all without having to meet a census taker.”  Census Bureau is encouraging everyone to respond online by following the instructions provided with their invitation. Instructions include the web address for the online questionnaire in English as well as where to respond online in 12 additional languages – ensuring over 99% of U.S. households can respond online in their preferred language. The invitation will also include phone numbers for English and 12 additional languages to ensure over 99% of U.S. households can respond over the phone in their preferred language. Telephone assistance is available seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. EDT for those who prefer to respond by phone. The deadline for counting everyone has also been pushed back from the end of July to mid-August.

EBSCO Solar Grant Program

EBSCO is the leading provider of research databases, e-journals, magazine subscriptions, e-books and discovery service to libraries of all kinds. For more than seventy years, the company has partnered with libraries to improve research with quality content and technology and more recently it has donated part of its pre-tax profits to worthwhile projects, with a particular focus on the environment. EBSCO Solar is a grant program that funds .  EBSCO Solar is inviting applications from libraries seeking to fund solar installations at libraries to offset electricity costs. EBSCO will pay for the initial installation through the grant, and the library, town, or college receiving the grant will own the system and  be responsible for all post-installation/ongoing maintenance of the array. In 2020, three grants of $100,000 will be awarded. Eligible applicants include all academic, school, and public libraries that are current EBSCO customers.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) Availability of Grant Funds for Transient Boating Projects

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) announces the anticipated availability of grant funds under the Boating Infrastructure Grant Program (BIGP). BIGP provides funding for the construction, renovation, or maintenance of boating infrastructure for transient, those staying at a facility for 15 days or less, recreational vessels at least 26 feet long that are used primarily for pleasure.  State and local governments, Native American tribes, Port Districts, Nonprofit Organizations, Private Operators and State Agencies are eligible to apply.  Pre-application for grant funding for fiscal year 2019-20 will be accepted beginning April 1, 2020 through June 1, 2020.  Final applications must be received by FWC before close of business on July 1, 2020.

City of Miami Gardens Community Development Department CDBG Public Service Funding Online Workshops

The City of Miami Gardens is opening the 2020/2021 CDBG Public Service funding to non-profit agencies seeking funding for services to Miami Gardens residents.  Due to the current COVID-19 national public health emergency, the City of Miami Gardens is following CDC guidelines and is putting measures in place to facilitate the mandatory workshop in an online environment to prevent the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19). Please see below two (2) online workshops scheduled for non-profit agencies. To be considered for the grant, you MUST participate in one (1) of the scheduled Zoom workshops on March 26, 2020 at 10AM and April 2, 2020 at 10AM.

Bank of America Art Conservation Project

Bank of America is inviting proposals for its Art Conservation Project. Now in its tenth year, the project has enabled the preservation of more than one hundred and seventy projects in thirty-three countries on six continents. Projects represent different art movements, media, time periods, and cultures, but all reflect the creativity and passion of people around the world over hundreds, even thousands, of years. Grants will be awarded to museums and cultural institutions in support of efforts to conserve works of art that are in danger of deterioration, including works that have been designated as national treasures. To qualify for the program, works of art must be significant to the cultural heritage of the country or region, or important to the history of art; on view to the public (or will be on view once conservation is complete); and be a painting, work on paper, photograph, sculpture, architectural or archeological piece, important book or manuscript, tapestry or work of decorative or applied art in danger of deterioration.

Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan Program
The program is currently available to small business owners located in all Florida counties statewide that experienced economic damage as a result of COVID-19. These short-term, interest-free working capital loans are intended to “bridge the gap” between the time a major catastrophe hits and when a business has secured longer term recovery resources, such as sufficient profits from a revived business, receipt of payments on insurance claims or federal disaster assistance. Applications will be accepted by qualified for-profit, privately held small businesses that maintain a place of business in the state of Florida. All qualified applicants must have been established prior to March 9, 2020, and suffered economic injury as a result of the designated disaster. Qualified small business applicants must be an employer business with 2 to 100 employees. Amount: Up to $50,000 per eligible small business. Loans of up to $100,000 may be made in special cases as warranted by the need of the eligible small business.

In recognition that businesses are experiencing disruptions resulting from the global outbreak of COVID-19, Facebook will be offering $100M in cash grants and ad credits to help during this challenging time. FEMA Public Assistance Program

In accordance with section 502 of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, 42 U.S.C. 5121-5207 (the “Stafford Act”), eligible emergency protective measures taken to respond to the COVID-19 emergency at the direction or guidance of public health officials may be reimbursed under Category B of FEMA’s Public Assistance program. FEMA will not duplicate assistance provided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), to include the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), or other federal agencies. State, territorial, tribal, and local government entities and certain private non-profit organizations are eligible to apply for Public Assistance. FEMA assistance will be provided at a 75 percent federal cost share. This assistance will require execution of a FEMA-State/Tribal/Territory Agreement, as appropriate, and execution of an applicable emergency plan. Local governments and other eligible PA applicants will apply through their respective state, tribal or territorial jurisdictions.

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services COVID-19 Response Supplement: Tribal Public Health Capacity-Building and Quality Improvement Umbrella Cooperative Agreement

This is an emergency supplemental funding opportunity announcement in response to the current outbreak of Coronavirus Disease, COVID-19. The purpose is to announce the availability of emergency supplemental funding to prevent, prepare for, and respond to COVID-19 for the American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) tribal nations and regional AI/AN tribal organizations that were previously awarded funding under Strategy 1 under CDC-RFA-OT18-1803: Tribal Public Health Capacity-Building and Quality Improvement Umbrella Cooperative Agreement.  Under this supplement, applicants will be funded to use the cooperative agreement’s existing 6 program strategies to support tribes, tribal organizations, urban Indian health organizations, or health service providers to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the COVID-19 including the following: To carry out surveillance, epidemiology, laboratory capacity, infection control, mitigation, communications, and other preparedness and response activities; For the construction, alteration, or renovation of non-federally owned facilities to improve preparedness and response capability; To reimburse costs for these purposes incurred on or after January 20, 2020. Award Ceiling: $3,500,000

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Hospital Associations COVID-19 Preparedness and Response Activities

The purpose is to support the urgent preparedness and response needs of hospitals, health systems, and physicians and nurses on the front lines of the COVID-19 outbreak in order to help prepare them to identify, isolate, assess, transport, and treat patients with or persons under investigation for COVID-19 or other special pathogens. This NOFO will provide targeted awards to 53 hospital associations in all states, the District of Columbia, New York City, and Puerto Rico. Funding will be distributed to hospital associations using a formula specific to COVID-19, which takes into account criteria such as at-risk populations and other vulnerabilities associated with this pandemic (e.g., population density; size of populations with increased risk for mortality from COVID-19, such as older adults and individuals with comorbid health conditions; and health care capacity). Hospital associations will then distribute funds to hospitals and related health care entities within their state or jurisdiction, which may be used to train staff to implement pandemic preparedness plans to respond to COVID-19; procure supplies and equipment (with attention to supply chain shortages); rapidly ramp up infection control and triage training for health care professionals; retrofit separate areas to screen and treat large numbers of persons with suspected COVID-19 infections; implement expanded telemedicine and telehealth capabilities, and; increase the numbers of patient care beds to provide surge capacity using temporary structures, such as temporary hospitals. Eligible entities include 53 hospital associations in all states, the District of Columbia, New York City, and Puerto Rico.

The purpose is to help ensure that jurisdictions (state, tribal, territorial, and local communities) have accredited emergency management programs and certified emergency management professionals in place in advance of an incident. To achieve this purpose, the EMBAG Program supports voluntary national-level standards and peer review assessment processes that jurisdictions can use to identify the capacity and shortfalls of their emergency management programs and professionals and develop a path to compliance. EMBAG supports: The development, maintenance, update, revision, and enhancement of voluntary national-level standards and peer review assessment processes for emergency preparedness and response that are driven, established, validated, and revised through consensus; Related efforts to develop or update national-level accreditation for these standards; and The assessment of select state, local, tribal, and territorial emergency management programs and professionals against these national-level standards. Eligible applicants are: Private institutions of higher education; and Nonprofits with and without 501(c)(3) status with the IRS. Award Ceiling: $695,000

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) Technical Assistance (TA) Center

The mission is to empower, educate and assist Medicare-eligible individuals, their families and caregivers through objective outreach, counseling and training to make informed health insurance decisions that optimize their access to care and benefits. There are currently 54 active SHIP grants: one in every state, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The SHIP National Technical Assistance Center serves as a centralized and significant source of information, expertise, and technical assistance for the SHIP grantee projects. With this funding opportunity, ACL is seeking applicants for a single cooperative agreement to operate the SHIP National Technical Assistance Center (The SHIP TA Center).  HHS grants may be awarded to domestic public or private, non-profit or for-profit organizations. Amber Grants for Women

Amber Grants honor the memory of a young woman, Amber Wigdahl, who died at the age of 19 – unable to fulfill her entrepreneurial dreams. In 2020, $4,000 grants will be  awarded to women entrepreneurs.  $4,000 grant recipients will become eligible for an additional $25,000 grant at the end of this year. No business dream is too big or too small. Past Amber Grant recipients have included everything from scientific inventors to bakers. Applications are due by the end of the month for the next $4,000 Amber Grant.

Eileen Fisher Supporting Women in Environmental Justice Grants Program

Grants ranging between $10,000 and $40,000 will be awarded to nonprofits providing direct services and programs with potential to increase women’s participation in decision-making; train them in climate change adaptation, mitigation, and advocacy; and engage them in sustainable economic activity. Executive leadership must reflect the demographics of the program’s beneficiaries, and the program itself should be generated by and/or co-designed with the communities it serves. To be eligible, applicants must be recognized as tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Organizations without 501(c)(3) status may apply with a fiscal sponsor provided they meet all other eligibility criteria and upload financials representing their operations. There are no geographic restrictions.
