April 2022 News Event Planning

Defining Your Next Event

Every event is critical to attract attention to your organization and its mission in order to get some of the $324.10 billion given to charity by individuals yearly (2020 statistics used). This means emphasizing more than just the major points. Successful events require an event business plan, which facilitates the recruitment of leadership and auxiliaries. In addition, a unique event inspires actions and thoughts on marketing the event to different audiences.

The Event Venue:  Can define the event’s planned activities. Most of the time, it is not a good idea to find a location and then try to fit an event into it. This should entail examining the planned activities of the event then developing a blueprint of the desired place.

The Food: If food is being offered, a reliable vendor with a great menu is of the essence.  Consider involving others in the process; it can turn into a fun activity for your board. Your guests may not recall every detail of an event, but they will remember the food they enjoyed.

Entertainment: If your budget allows it, hire an entertainment agent. You may want to choose a few of your sponsors to join the event committee to ensure the event’s success and help in making the right choices. It’s unusual for that to go wrong. Consider your sponsors as stakeholders; you may be surprised at the experience they bring to the table.  Having a responsibility to either a logistical or catering committee creates a sense of belonging. Moreover, it represents savings in the event budget.
