The pandemic has changed the way we live. While challenging, there have been some unexpected benefits. One example is the amazing opportunity to participate in the highly-rated class experience offered by the Sunshine Certificate in Nonprofit Management (SCNM) without leaving home. The education needed to excel at nonprofit management is now available online.
Florida Nonprofits was the first in Florida and among the first in the nation to offer certification, along with Seton Hall in New Jersey, Regent in Colorado, Case Western in Ohio, and St. Mary’s in Pennsylvania. Florida Nonprofits has a 25-year history of superior ratings and is in the 99th percentile of recommendations from certificate graduates.
In addition to the move to an online format, in 2020 Florida Nonprofits added Monday evening classes to the regular class schedule. While prior to the pandemic, students would come to the Florida Nonprofits’ office for an immersive full day of training, one Saturday each month, now classes are offered in four-hour sessions one Saturday afternoon and one Monday evening each month.
We can now offer education to a much wider geographic range and to students unavailable on Saturdays.
The SCNM is offered in cooperation with the NOVA Southeastern University Fischler School of Education and Human Services and Broward College.
The curriculum includes grantwriting; indeed every class introduces concepts that are important to writing grants. To receive the certificate, each student must complete all 11 classes and the related assignments. The assignments comprise all the collateral material needed for a grant proposal.
