January 2022 News Boat Parade

Florida Nonprofits #98 in the Boat Parade

The Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade, the “Best Show on H20” was viewed by over a million live spectators.  2021 marked the 50th anniversary of the parade and was the largest Winterfest Boat Parade ever. Television coverage was provided by WSVN Channel 7. See it on the Winterfest Facebook Page https://fb.watch/9RZELbcaL7/

With over a million viewers along the 12-mile parade route and an economic impact to Broward County of over $50 million, the Winterfest Boat Parade, where the floats really float, is a Fort Lauderdale institution. This year, the Florida Association of Nonprofits is proud to have been aboard for this fantastic event. Thanks to member John Muir, Florida Nonprofits and the Red Cross, Broward County Chapter, were aboard the 65-foot ketch Unexpected Pleasure, hosted by Captain Paul Jehlen and Kim Golodner. It was a fabulous night and an inspiring event. Many, many thanks to John, Paul, and Kim for allowing us to join this wonderful group bringing attention to so many nonprofits.

John Muir was also instrumental in getting entry #51, the 12 Dinghies of Christmas, representing Winterfest Foundation with dinghies from the Coral Ridge Yacht Club and the Gulfstream Sailing Club towed by Sea Tow Fort Lauderdale, into the parade, and entering and piloting #89 representing the Marine Toys for Tots program with the JROTC cadet students from Deerfield Beach High School aboard. We are all grateful for John’s hard work, boating skills, knowledge, and enthusiasm.
