Historically, individual giving accounts for nearly 70% of all monies donated to charity. Marketing and special events that bring an organization to the attention of donors are crucial to success. Get practical and creative ideas as the basis of a successful marketing plan in the Marketing & Special Events class led by Tom Fuchs online on Monday, April 19.

Tom has more than 25 years of executive management experience in product sales and distribution.  He has worked in supplier, distribution and retail segments of the alcoholic beverage three-tier system, having worked for well-known companies like Gallo, Chateau St. Jean, and McKesson International Wholesalers. In his marketing efforts, Tom has a history of collaborating with local nonprofits. In addition, he has been president of medium-sized companies focused on successful turn-around endeavors and national-level start-up import companies, like GANNON International (importer), Miami, FL, Capital Brewery in Madison WI, and MOSAIC Vineyards & Winery, Sonoma, CA.  As president, Tom has overseen and managed all divisions of companies including: General Management, Operations, System Controls, Finance, and Sales & Marketing.  In many instances, he has created systems and controls for management and reporting within each of the corporate divisions.

Nine years ago, Tom started Headwaters Management, an international business consulting firm.  Headwaters primary function is to assist small to medium-sized businesses to develop managerial systems and controls, while establishing and building strong sales and marketing plans and programs for long-term brand development.  Headwaters has clients across Europe, South Africa, New Zealand, and across the United States.

This experience is the foundation for Tom’s success as a sales & marketing consultant. This has created a demand for him as a public speaker, brand development, sales, and sales training.

Tom was educated at St. Louis University’s School of Commerce & Finance, majoring in Marketing and Economics.

He has served on the Board of Directors for several companies and organizations, including Alexander Valley Winegrowers Association, MOSAIC Vineyards & Winery, Greater Madison (WI) Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Capital Brewery.  Tom was also a wine columnist syndicated through the Pulitzer Paper, The Globe-Democrat of St. Louis, Missouri.
